Disney’s Blizzard Beach Opening in March 2021

The wait is finally over! On March 25, 2021 Disney’s Blizzard Beach will kick off its 25th season!

To help commemorate this exciting news we’ve put together some fun facts you may not have known about Disney’s wintertime themed water park.

The Story of Blizzard Beach

Did you say a ski resort in Florida? You heard correctly! The legend entails a fabled snowstorm in Florida that inspired local opportunists to build a ski resort. When the climate in Florida returned to regular Florida temperatures, the snow began to melt, and Blizzard Beach was born.

One of the World’s Fastest Waterslides

Summit Plummet is a 120-foot-tall waterslide with a near-straight down drop. You can reach speeds of up to 65 mph, making it one of the fastest attractions at Walt Disney World and the ultimate water park thrill ride.

Loads of Tasty treats

Nothing goes better on a hot summer day than ice cream. From churros to Mickey ice cream bars, you will find plenty of your favorite tasty Disney snacks on the menu. Options to choose from include loaded nachos and Frostbite Freddy’s Frozen Fresfreshments.

The First Chairlift Built in Florida

Constructed at Blizzard Beach to transport guests to the peak of Mt. Gushmore, this vibrant chairlift was the first of its kind in the sunshine state. Offering beautiful views of Blizzard Beach and convenient access to Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher and Teamboat Springs.

Grab a Cold One at the Polar Pub

Chill out at Blizzard Beach’s own full-service beach bar. They’re mixing up specialty cocktails inspired by the park’s stories including cocktails like the icy Piña CoLAVA or Blue Blizzard, along with bottled and draft brew-skis.

Cross Country Creek, the longest Lazy River

Can you think of anything better to do than to glide down one of the longest lazy rivers in the country? Kick back and relax as you drift down a 3,000-foot scenic journey taking about 20 to 30 minutes to complete one trip – depending, of course, on how lazy you want to be!

One of the world’s longest family whitewater raft ride
