In the beginning of the New Year, Walt Disney World brings new and exciting additions for its customers. Here our top five picks.
1. Star Wars Marathon
Star Wars-themed race weekend will kick off at Walt Disney World Resort, between April 14th and 17th. The Half Marathon at the Walt Disney World Resort is called “The Dark Side” and at Disneyland Resort in California, it assumes the role of the “Light Side”. In Orlando race will include a 5K, 10K and kid’s races. The runners will race through Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and finish at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Beginning January 5th, experience the all new “Star Wars"-themed fireworks show at the park.
2. Disney Springs at Walt Disney World
Downtown Disney has been renamed Disney Springs and will offer more than 150 exciting new shops, restaurants and dining experiences. Witness the evolution in the environment as the water front town grew and changed. Visit many new exciting places and a grab a bite, while exploring the history of the town that grew up around a spring.
3. Soarin’ Around the World Epcot Attraction
Soarin’ gets an update - The popular attraction will undertake a completely new journey when Soarin’ Around the World, opens in the summer of 2016. Guests will be carried to new and exciting far-away lands, including unique landscapes and man-made wonders. Experience the very best technology that Disney has to offer.
4. New attraction alert! Frozen Ever After
At Walt Disney World’s Epcot, Frozen Ever After will replace the former Maelstrom Ride, in the Norway pavilion. Guests will be taken through scenes from the animated movie by a captivating boat ride. Disney will use a new cutting edge technology that allows animated faces to appear more lifelike. The scenes include Arendelle, Elsa's Ice Palace and The Ice-Blue World of the North Mountain. Frozen characters will also welcome guests in a special meet and greet area.
5. Nighttime at Animal Kingdom
Exciting news for animal lovers out there! Disney’s Animal Kingdom will include a nighttime show “Rivers of Light” scheduled to be introduced this spring and take place between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest Roller Coaster. This celebration of beauty takes place on the lake and begins unassumingly, continues to reveal and grow more extravagant, finally a giant curtain of water and lights, display impressive animals taking off into the sky.
